De nuevo en España

Hace una semana que volví de Corea y ahora me siento descolocado. Ha sido una época de mi vida muy especial, me ha cambiado, he aprendido aprendido y creo que eso se notará en mi trabajo a partir de ahora.

No sólo he aprendido de las sociedades y culturas tan distintas, que he conocido en Japón, Corea e Indonesia, sino también de la gente.

He conocido personas que me han aportado mucho, y entre ellas de especial relevancia es Lolly, fotógrafa como yo y tan o más ambiciosa si cabe. Ella ha aportado un nuevo enfoque a mi visión de la fotografía, un punto fresco y espontáneo que espero haber reflejado en mis fotografías de viajes. Gracias Lolly ;)

Confiaré en la fotografía, nuevamente, como elemento vertebrador de mi vida para que todo vuelva a cobrar el sentido que tenía antes.

It's been a week since I have come back from Korea and now I feel out of place. It has been a very special time in my life, it's changed me, I've learnt a lot and I think it will be reflected on my work from now on.

I've not only learnt from so different societies and cultures from Japan, Korea and Indonesia, but also from people.

I've met people who have given lots to me, and among them specially relevant is Lolly, photographer as me and as ambitious as me or even more. She has given a new fresh and spontaneous approach to my vission of photography. I hope I have reflected it on my travel pictures. Thanks Lolly ;)

I'll trust photography, once again, as the structuring element in my life in order everything to make sense as before.

Me voy a Corea del Sur

Bueno, este post es para deciros que me voy a estudiar durante cuatro meses a Corea del Sur, concretamente a Seúl, la capital. Por ello, he creado un nuevo blog, y espero que os paséis y me sigáis por allí!

Well, this new post is to inform you about the new blog I've started because I'm going 4 months to South Korea, secifically Seoul. That's why I'm moving during this time to the new blog. I hope you visit it though it's only in Spanish, however, you can translate it into your native language with Google.

Retrospectiva en imágenes

He añadido un nuevo álbum de fotos "Buscando mi camino" a mi página de facebook. Encontraréis las fotos que he hecho hasta que llegué al retrato y la moda, son básicamente fotografías sin elemento humano, de paisaje y composiciones con objetos que me inventaba. Me gustaría volver a retomar un poco ese tipo de fotografías, pero parece que mi mente ha cambiado desde entonces...

Más adelante subiré otro del mismo estilo, pero con elemento humano, autorretratos y retratos de otro tipo.

As you can see, I've added a new photo album called "Searching my way" to my facebook fanpage. You'll find there the pictures I took until I chose portrait and fashion as my main theme. They're basically picture without human element, about landscape and objects compositions I invented. I'd like to do again this kind of photos, but it seems that my mind has changed since then...

Adterwards, I'll upload a similar album, but with human element in its pictures, selfportraits and other kind of portraits.

The Lost Shots III: Rainy days

Normalmente en Málaga el tiempo es bueno, el sol brilla, los colores son intensos y los días alegres. Y me encanta. Sin embargo, a veces se echan de menos las nubes y el agua, que le dan la misma belleza a todo pero distinta, con un toque melancólico y juegos de luces y reflejos.

Usually, the weather is sunny in Málaga, the sun shines, colors are intense and days are bright. And I love it. However, sometimes I miss clouds and water, which bring the same beauty to everything but in a different way, with a melancholic touch and play of light and reflections.

En mi día a día, no llevo mi cámara conmigo pero sí mi móvil, y me encanta fotografiar las escenas que veo, sobre todo desde el autobús. Y lo que más me gusta fotografiar es el mar y el cielo en estos días. Tan sólo un breve tramo del autobús hacia mi casa me brinda la oportunidad de fotografiar estas escenas, pero lo aprovecho bien. No os esperéis fotografías increíbles, tan sólo intento captar los momentos de los días lluviosos que más me gustan.

In my day to day, I don't take the camera with me but I take my mobile phone, and I love taking pictures of the scenes that I see, even more from the bus. And what I love more is taking pictures of the sea and the sky on this kind of day. Only on a part of the short trip home by bus, I have the chance to take pictures of the sea, and I really take advantage of this moment. Don't expect incredible photos, I just try to capture the moments that I like on rainy days.

9 Consejos para Iniciarse en Fotografía de Moda

Hace dos días publicaron un artículo que envié a dzoom.org, se llama "9 Consejos para Iniciarse en Fotografía de Moda". Y en este enlace podréis leerlo.

Es un artículo que he escrito con mi propia experiencia y que es para eso, para iniciarse. va dirigido a todo aquel que no ha empezado y quiere anirmarse, o bien a aquel que acaba de empezar. Ni por asomo pretendo resumir toda la fotografía de moda en él. Lo digo porque he recibido críticas negativas por esa parte, las cuales no acepto porque parece que no se han leído la introducción al artículo. No soy ninguna eminencia ni pretendo serlo. Así que para criticar, primero leed bien.

Por otro lado, voy a hacer autocrítica. No elegí bien del todo las fotos para ilustrarlo, tal vez dejándome llevar más por razones sentimentales que objetivas. Aunque no creo que estén del todo mal puesto que cada una intenta ilustrar el concepto al que van unidas. De modo que, aunque el artículo es sobre fotografía de moda, no todas las fotografías son sobre moda.

Por mi parte, espero que os guste y os resulte útil. Y para cualquier cosa, ya sabéis por dónde me podéis pillar! Un saludo!

Beauty con Yuni y Vicky - Behind the scenes

Más vale tarde que nunca, y haciendo uso del dicho, llego con tres meses de retraso para explicar esta sesión que llevé a cabo con Yuni y Vicky a finales de diciembre de 2011.

Better late than never, and basing my reason on that, I write this blog entry three months late to explain this photoshooting I carried out with Yuni and Vicky at the end of last december.

En esta sesión la luz tuvo un papel importante, digamos que el que más junto con el maquillaje, que realizó magistralmente Yuni.

 In this photoshooting the light had an important rol, the most along with make-up, amazingly made by Yuni.

El esquema de luz que ideé fueron dos ventanas de luz a los lados de la modelo pero detrás de ella, de forma que incidiera en diagonal respecto a la misma. Por otro lado, un flash con un paraguas difusor blanco a más potenica que las luces. Lo ideal habría sido tener un beauty dish, pero no disponía de él... así que hice esto, aunque ya veréis el resultado. No quedó mal pero ya explicaré los errores.

 The lighting diagram I planned was two light boxes at model's sides but behind her, this way the light would fall diagonally on the model. On the other hand, a flash and a white umbrella with a higher lighting power than the boxes' light. The best thing would have been a beauty dish, but I hadn't one so I did the things this way, though you'll see the result. It didn't came out bad but I'll explain some mistakes.

 

  Al no usar beauty dish, probé con el paraguas tanto usándolo de filtro como rebotando la luz (es decir, primero por un lado, luego por otro) y alejándolo y acercándolo a la modelo. Como normalmente no tengo en cuenta el post procesado, opté creo que por la peor opción. La luz más dura (paraguas como filtro) pero que daba el contraste justo entre ambas fuentes de luz. Lo malo: las sombras tan duras que, aunque mitigúe en el procesado, podrían haber sido mucho más suaves.

As I didn't use a beauty dish, I tried to create the lighting with the umbrella using it as a filter and as a reflector (i.e.,first using a side, afterwards the other side) and moving it further or closer to the model. As I usually I don't take in account the post processing, I think I chose the worst option: the hardest light (umbrella as a filter) but getting the contrast I wanted between both light power sources. The bad thing: hard shadows that, though I could mend a bit in post-processing, they could have been softer.

 

Al final, quedé bastate contento para ser mi primer beauty digamos "serio". Tiene sus errores como ya os he explicado y a algunos les ha gustado más, y a otros menos. Pero ya estoy deseando hacer otro para ver como queda después de haber analizado mis fallos.

At the end, I am quite glad to be my first "serious" beauty. I had my mistakes as I've explained and some people have liked it more, other less. But I'm looking forward to do another one to see the result after the analysis of my mistakes.
